Man, I’m pretty sure I’m losing my mojo to blog recently. Hmmm…

….

Okay let’s talk about 2011…it is pretty good overall. I did a proper filmingproject with my schoolmates for Cinematography class. It took around 5 or 6days to finish the shoot. The whole team has around 13 people. And I’m in thelighting group, to help out with the lighting of course, haha. The whole filmingthing is pretty rewarding for me as I got to experience something I have nevertry before but have always wanted to try. I must say that we are just a bunchof students trying to create a 15 minutes plus film…getting things done the waywe want to and the way we can best get things done…hence I didn’t quite get the“professional” experience in filming yet. But then again, apart from thedifference in equipments (those A-class filming equipments) and other areas likeprofessional actors, higher budget bla bla bla…I have to say this project hasreally allow me to understand a lot more about filming….(the-making-part I mustemphasised)…and it is really pretty damn life-draining….and pretty damn timeand money costly. But I always enjoy to be a part of a group of people doingsomething wholeheartedly…with might and passion…(haha!)…and I got thiswonderful atmosphere again while doing this project. (Yea, reminds me of thegood old days when I was playing for my sec sch basketball team and doing finalyear project with my poly mates.) The final output of this film project waspretty good…though I think the story can be much better. Well, it’s verydifficult for us to do what we know that can make the film better when we don’thave lots of money and connection and stuff…so we always find the mosteffective way to tell the story…which is just another way of saying simplifyingthe parts or the whole thing to something more manageable…which leads tolowering the output’s quality. Well, such problem and approach to overcome theproblem happens everywhere…just that the “form” is different. Right?

I still love films, more than ever. But I’m really not seeing myselfenjoying every bits of the filming process…unlike when I’m drawing. I reallylike moving images edited nicely together to create drama, along with greatsound effect and music etc…but it just takes too many things to do it…(thereare much to elaborate on this, but I’m fast forwarding to the key point) ... whenI realized that drawing can create drama too, and it only requires me alone toachieve it… I really begin to see what I should really be crazy about over thenext few years.

Well, this is me…talking again. Hope that this is not a meaninglesspost.

Oh oh, btw, I can never be a vegetarian as I’m just not disciplined enough.

Really quite disappointed with myself. As for now, I will only eatchicken, follow by pork and seafood. I will limit myself not eat beef andmutton…but will still eat if there is no other option and I’m freaking hungryetc. My stupid logic is that it’s okay to kill chickens, pigs and fishes, butit’s cruel to kill cows and sheep. No-sense. Oh yea, whenever there is somevegetarian food around, it will still be my top priority….provided it is nottoo expensive, lol. damn, it’s hard to live in this world isn’t it?

ok, my gastric pain is pretty much gone. it has been around for 2 weeks plus, and i did not go to see a doctor...which can be quite dangerous. as in, my stomach would bleed, rot or even explode if i don't attend to it anytime sooner. alright, i'm kidding. lucky for me, before i drag my body to see the doctor...mom gave me some banana to eat and Yakult to drink. WOW. they are super effective! lol, after several banana and yakult session, my gastric pain problem is almost completely gone! i dislike seeing doctor and i enjoy eating banana and drinking yakult...and now, they can actually solve my gastric problem, hooray!! thank you banana and yakult (either one of you, or both of you saved me) And of cos, thank you mom for the timely rescue.

next, lots of work to do. will talk about it after i finish my semester.

maybe this is some bullshit...but i can feel my ultimate super turbo fantastic Xelex Power is coming back!

or maybe i'm just happy that the gastric pain is gone :D

Gastric Pain

it's back.

there was a period of time where i had experience CONSTANT gastric pain for a few days. it's fucking bad. i totally couldn't concentrate on anything, but to roll on the bed, to get myself to sleep, only then the pain can go away. Eventually, i went to see the chinese doctor and had two servings of medicine before things got better. The doctor said that everyone would experience bad gastric pain at least once in their life, and once they overcome it, they may not be having it ever again.

well, it's back. for me. it's not as bad as the previous time. i can still blog about it now, lol. but yea, gastric pain is "brain-stopper" in my point of view. as in, my brain stops working when gastric pain "takes over". This may increase my stress level when there are work waiting to be done, and that means more gastric pain. sibei sian. this feeling sucks. for i am neither sick nor healthy, i can still work...but not efficiently. guess i need to see the doctor again.

haha, reminds me about Daryl and his gastric pain moments. now i can understand how fucked up this is. and it's not helping when we are cracking lame jokes to make everyone laugh...cos laughing does not go with gastric pain well. lol!

for now, more warm water and more rest bah.

Anyday without gastric pain is a happy day. Hahhaa!

One more month and I’m somewhat done with my year 2 semester A. lol.

I know I’m doing things and learning things. But it’s like a dream. It feels like an illusion sometimes. this is probably because I feel that I have not work hard enough and have not really absorb all the new information. I still suck at learning new software, can never catch up with the lecturer’s lightning speed demonstration. Even when I can follow her pace, I would still forget what I’ve learn when I don’t touch the software for around 5 days. So every week’s new lesson is something new, and yea, i’ve forgot about what’s been taught…and I’ll forget about what will be taught soon. All is left, are the visual memories of me clicking the mouse, staring at the computer (wondering how to do it or what went wrong). It is just an experience with a new software…and that’s about it. No more information about the software. When I operate software or a machine, I don’t really use real memories, cos I didn’t retain them somehow, I use my muscle memories instead. How pathetic.

The most interesting thing for this semester is the (Chinese) scriptwriting class. It’s really fun to write your own story. To construct everything from scratch, and then see your characters coming to life…being able to follow them…and let the story unfold or retold in it’s own way. But the process for this to happen requires a lot of thinking, research and soul searching. The story I’m working on is far from done. The submitted version will not be the final version. Note that I am only required to write a 30 page script for the submission, which is not the full script. I wish I can finish the full script with the final story asap, if not it’ll be another ‘illusion’, lol.

And oh, I finally watched “L’Illusionniste” by Slyvain Chomet. Fantastic work. Will watch it a few times more to admire the wonderful animation in it.

Okay, back to ‘entertaining’ my gastric pain.

For Earthlings

On September, I got to watch a documentary called “Earthlings”. I happened to click on “Earthlings” simply because I am interested in this term, which groups up all living things on earth with no discrimination or what so ever. My first thought was that I will get to see the beauties and similarities that all living things share, but it surprised me when this documentary is going another direction to make us understand the term Earthling. It will discuss on how mankind (the dominant specie of the planet) has been mistreating other animals, disregarding their own rights to live a free life.

I have always wanted to know exactly how our human world functions. And this particular “Earthlings” documentary can answer some of my concern.

Alright, I recommend everyone to watch the documentary “Earthlings” when you are free and watch it at one go. And after watching the documentary, please also watch Gary Yourofsky’s powerful speech that tackles the same issue. (If you cannot stand all those animal abuse videos present in the documentary, then you can choose to just listen to Gary Yourofsky’s speech. He will get you well-informed as well.)

After watching both videos, immediately I am sure that I will never support the Pets, Clothing, Research and Entertainment Industries that allow animal abuse to happen. As for Food industries, I will find my way to become a vegetarian or even vegan in the future. This change in my eating habits will be pretty challenging, but I will try my best to make it work. Hong Kong is really a meat-eating society…why do I say so? It’s extremely difficult to have a meal similar to “Mixed-vegetables rice” or 杂菜饭 that can be easily found in Singapore. At least 95% of the food sold in food stores in Hong Kong must include meat as the “main dish”. Therefore, it is really quite inconvenient for me to convert into a vegetarian. Anyway, the conversion is taking place for me already and I have reduced by at least 40% of my usual meat consumption during this month. Thanks to the food center near my school area that sells vegetarian food (with ‘fake’ meat and fillet), which I have been eating for lunch during my school days recently.

For now, my practice is not to eat meat whenever I can. Until I have found out where I can buy vegetarian products etc, I will slowly proceed to eat meat only once or twice a week. Hopefully, I can find my way to fully refrain myself from eating meat in the future. Well, I’m doing this for the sake of the animals which I strongly believe they do not deserve this kind of treatment. We have no reason for this to continue once we know about this and when we declare that we love animals.

And guess what, by doing this (not supporting Pets, Clothing, Entertainment, Research and Food Industries that abuse animals)…we are also saving the environment and our own health.

It’s time for some more reflections as to what we should really care about and do about in our lifetime.

There are many other documentaries available online (on youtube) that inform the truth or rather uncover the ugly side of us.

In the age of the Internet, there is (almost) no one stopping us to find out the truth and take actions but ourselves and our faulty belief system.

Lastly, I wish to express my thanks to the people who have made the documentary and Gary Yourofsky for his wonderful speech.

lol, i've took the time to edit my prev post, but in vain.

why edit? i've rushed to finish it and then blog it just before i head to shenzhen. once i came back to hk and review my writings, i can see tons of careless typo and grammar errors.

the blog post was related to 'nothingness'.

being particularly interested in the topic that i've chosen to discuss, i wrote some pretty long stuff about it. and just now, i've managed to 'polish' it to help me deliver my ideas across better. however, when i clicked the 'pusblish post' button, it brings me to an error page. my updated blog post has vapourised to nothingess.

Alrite…first of all, my holiday has been great so far. Before my trip to Singapore, I went to Macau with Daniel and his girlfriend, Sherraine for a 3 days 2 nights trip…and thanks to them, I got to stay in 2 diff hotels each night…the first one is Galaxy Macau and the other one is Hard Rock Hotel. I have to say that Galaxy Macau looks like some Paladin or Aladdin Palace…it’s grand, elegant and grand and beautiful and grand, lol... (note that it is a new hotel, hence everything looks more polished and stuff)…I personally like it’s exterior and interior design very much. If I’m not wrong, it’s a five star hotel, and their hotel rooms really reflected that standard well, haha. As for Hard Rock Hotel, it’s more of HARD and ROCK as you can see. So ya, it’s a very different environment compared to Galaxy Macau, both are unique and I like both of them :)

Hmm, I'll briefly summarise what I have done in my Macau trip…Visited various Hotels, visited various casinos (ard 7)…(spent a hell lot of time there, and I gambled a little..lost some money only, phew, haha. Anw, I was more into watching Daniel play some Dice game and Roulette most of the time, lol), ate Portuguese Egg-tarts (excellent stuff), ate few other nice food there too, watched an approx. 15 mins “Dragon Dance Show” (not sure about the name) screened in a dome in Hard Rock Hotel, pretty cool experience…Visited the memorial site of Macau…and then went to a museum nearby. and oh, there’s a man-made beach in Galaxy Macau, love the 'fake' waves there!…And then more gambling…more gambling…lol.

Hmm, I think that’s generally what (the tourist-side of) Macau is about. It’s about…beautiful buildings used to house only casinos, various high-end shops and restaurants for you to gamble and shop and eat till you ‘die’. I’m trying to say that…I really like those mega structures…but not those shitty things that you are ‘forced’ to do inside. Btw, there is no arcade in any of the Hotels. Why? Because you will only be spending little money in a quite a long amount of time there, and this is not what they want. They prefer to limit your entertainment choices…and encourage u to try your freaking luck in the casinos. Very wise…and evil. tsk tsk tsk...

Imagine, if gambling in casino is a waste of time and money, and time is money…just how much money have you lost in the end?…Not mentioning about sleeping late and breathing in second-hand smoke all the time. just how wasted can this be?

What is casino? Cash-In-No.

And so, two days after my Macau trip, I was on my way to Singapore.

My 10 days in Singapore were among my (very few) best days I have had so far since the day I’ve left Singapore.

yup, it was a wonderful trip. It was wonderful because I got to meet my friends in Singapore, simple as that. Hanging out with my friends in Singapore is something I frequently do when I’m free back then, but now, it is sort of an annual event for me.

Haiiiiizzz….

And of course, I have to thank my cousin, Chris Bro, for letting me stay at his place. We had interesting talks together and he reassured me that I’m gambling with my future when I told him about my “future plan”. To be exact about my plan, I don’t have an exact plan. Shit. …How I wish what I’ve plan for my future will work out the way I’ve plan it to be. man, it’s either the future is ever unpredictable or I’m a lousy planner. In any case, there is just hell too much uncertainty in my life. All I can do now is to be prepared for everything…lol…sounds good in theory…but impossible to achieve in action. But hey, this is really what we should all be doing now…to be prepared for everything…all the changing and the non-changing…ups and downs…gains and loss. It’s all about the mind, heart and body. and just nice, Chris Bro sees a person in term of these 3 areas as well. He said that I have the heart to become the artist I want to be. but I seriously lack the business sense for things to work out right for me.(my mind ain't good enough)

“You’re dreaming,” he said. “Hell yeah,” I answered with my heart.

So now I know what I’ve been lacking/ should upgrade on…it’s about time to understand the world from the business view point. I’ll try to. But allow me to complain first… I fucking hate the bu$ine$$ world. Over and over again, it destroys the values in Art, Nature and Humanity. I’ll briefly understand it, just to give a little shit about this gigantic, obsessive, hideous monster….my all-time arch enemy in all 13dimensions of the universe. I’ll not fight you…cause if I do, you’ll win the game again. I’ll understand you and then have my ways to ignore you while still getting the job done.

Okay, in other words…I’m trying not to be a slave working for money.

Anyway, it’s great to see my friends again…knowing that everybody are moving forward and things are going pretty well for most people, except for some. Yea, my brothers have “fallen”…in the game of love. It’s pretty frustrating to know about such news. There’s not much I can say about this, so stay strong guys. and to everyone, just keep rolling man!!!

oh, I wish to point out that it’s always your friends, your dream…and if you’re lucky, your family and your soul mate that will lift you up every time you’re down. They matter. They are what make your life a life. Cherish them. I’m really too too too fortunate to know that I have already made lifetime friends, have a dream worthy to fight for, and have a wonderful family (and relatives) with me. I’m extremely thankful for all this.

All that my parents wanted me to be is to be a healthy and upright person. That’s all. They’ve never pushed me to do anything, i'm grateful for that, still I'm going to follow their footsteps and be part of the art world. It’s heartening to know that my parents are happy with who I am now and what I’m doing now…except that they are ‘angry’ with me for not taking my breakfast seriously, not drinking enough water and not exercising regularly …haha!

Talk about exercising, I’ve just went to shoot some hoops today! That’s my fourth time exercising this year. Cool huh. well, i’m glad that I’m still quite accurate with my mid-range set-shooting. But I can’t shoot jump shots well now…I blame it on the heavy and slippery basketball, lol!

So what’s going on with me now? I’m basically skipping around the following fields…watch movies, watch youtube videos, watch TED.com, pencil sketch, digital doodle, developing projects that can never be completed, read online manga, watch anime and trying out Chinese painting (insanely difficult but can be fun too). and playing basketball of cos. Hmm, I’m just allowing my heart to tell me what to do next. I’m pretty efficient this way, haha. Cos in this way, I’m working with my mind, heart and body nicely ‘aligned’ together. The risk/problem is that, my heart tends to lead me to all directions.

So be it. All in.

hey Time...please pass by slowly when i'm having my holidays. I seriously can't cope with your speed. and once again, i have planned to fail...as i didn't plan my holiday properly, not mentioning executing them. i'm just going with the flow for now...trying to relax...try to allow things to happen naturally...but whenever i look back, as much as i have feel/know that i have gain something valuable along this journey...i would still think that i have not make good use of my time.

hmm, maybe i really need to learn how to (truly) relax, haha.

anyway, it's not a big deal. The big deal for this holiday is that i'm going to Singapore on 24th June! YAYYYYY!!! and my wish for this trip is..........................for Time to pass away slowly. Let me enjoy my time to the fullest. every second should feel like an eternity. ok, that's scary.lol!

oh btw, here's a video that i've watched today. super touching. this video has once again proved that we have great command over the life that we want to lead. in this case, a (hopeless) gangster can turn over a new leaf and become such a hopeful and respectable person...living a life filled with true love, joy and peace. and this video has also proved that mother's love for his child is boundless. and in this vid, the kid's mother not only has unconditional love and faith in his child, she is very wise too. I'm so happy for her that she can pull his son back on track again. (and even better, reestablished the broken family.)
well, some people..(like his other gangster friends)...might not have the luck to come into contact with such great people like the kid's mother or some great teachers. but the knowledge/wisdom that will lead to the right path is forever there. And that is to genuinely love, care and respect other people. (and of course there are other important details to know if one wants to walk on the right path of life.) Well, the book （弟子规） is an old teaching material for the children back in the past...This is one of the book that can guide people onto the right path. i have briefly gone through it before...and have yet to discover the gem in it. but i will. (i guess the internet have access to the writings).

and i've finally read "Little Prince"! downloaded an pdf version of it online...(for free, lol)...and yeap, it's an interesting read!

well, i'm heading to Macau tmr...for two days plus. my instinct tells me that i should pay a visit to that place. I'm not going there to just...play play play....have fun, have fun, have fun. I'm just trying to understand myself better.

Fantastic! Ray Ray has been around me for 2 years already!

yeap, 21st May is Ray Ray's birthday. It's an extra pleasure for me to know that 21st May 2011 was rumoured as the end of day or Judgement Day or Doomsday...

as we know by now....(22nd May 2011 already)....yesterday was not the end of the world.

Well...i have this little observation. It is highly possible that our almighty Ray Ray has decided to let mankind live for a while longer. He is giving us one more chance to prove our worth....

LOL. okay. what a story huh.

anyway, i've finished all my assignments already! and my first free time drawing shall be dedicated to Ray Ray of cos. unfortunately, i can only finish it now..which is a few hours after 21st May 2011. hope he doesn't mind me sending this belated birthday card. (of cos, he won't :P )

Alright, April is going to be over soon...and today is the day which i have both some energy and time to blog something here :)

well, i have too many things going on in my head recently. It's pretty crazy. indeed. ...anyway, i am going to finish my second semester pretty soon...with just a one more assignments and a test to do. no more schooling already...so i'm pretty much in holiday or happy mood now, haha

let's see what else i can talk about.

okay, I wish to informally announce that I will probably be coming back to Singapore somewhere near the end of June period! (preferably from 24th June to 3rd July) I have not book the air ticket yet, will do so asap! The trip will be 10 days long, and I will most likely be staying at my cousin's place. I believe during the 10 days, if i can plan it nicely, i would be able to meet most of the people whom i wish to meet. but to think again, things may not go so smoothly...and i may miss meeting several of you guys! that would be so shitty!! D:

basically, I would like to meet these 4 major group of people
1) primary sch frens
2) secondary sch frens
3) polytechnic frens
4) army frens
oh wait, these are all the people i know in Singapore :/
hahaaha! and there are some smaller group of people whom i'll probably meet separately...

...and after calculations, there are practically 7 different meet ups in 10 days for me and if you take away the arrival day and the departure day, i will only have 8 days to do all this. Not impossible, but not too easy either...as everybody's time table are different...so let's just hope for the best :)
(also note that i should be back at my cousin's place b4 midnight...so there goes my night time.)

hmm...if i have still have 'my' beloved Pearl Bank Apartment in Singapore...i will DEFINITELY stay in SG for about a month or so. oh well, nobody likes to hear about the 'what if'. but yea, you've heard me. haha~

what else? hmm oh ya, i've heard about the General Election event in Singapore. Very ashamed to say that i have very little idea what is really going on there. never had a clear understanding about political and economic issues. needa wake up my ideas. all i can do now is to wish the event will go on as peacefully and ideally as possible..with everyone coming to a common understanding in the end...and move on together!

haizz, i actually tried to give some "valuable" personal opinions on this issue...but i only ended up typing quite a lot of unconstructive comment and ideas. shall delete them...keep quiet...read more and understand more.

still, my itchy mouth makes me want to say this...that a lot of great things were done through the 'trial and error' method. I don't mind people going for THE change...no matter it is a good change or a bad change at the end of the day, because the people of Singapore will gain invaluable experience from it. Of course, this is a HUGE decision to make, as it involves the entire nation. i see this 'competition' a good event for Singapore in a long run. Even if PAP won again this time, i feel that it will do quite some (positive) adjustments for the nation soon after.

that's how i see it. or guess it. haha.

The Earth is "sick" because we are "sick".

Not many people, including me of cos, have a complete and accurate understanding about the relationship between us (human beings) and our environment (Earth). but i wish to contribute some of my understanding and opinions about this relationship. Do inform me if any of the information provided here is wrong or questionable.

so here we go....

-We should live with Nature and not against it-

(this statement is derived from 天人合一, which has similar meanings and agendas.)

this way of living life has been introduced to us a long long time ago. It's time to really proceed with this "system" of living. not really to save earth... it is to save ourselves.

We are so fortunate to be capable of learning, sharing and creating…we can use these powerful brains that we have to get what we desire to get…through manipulating the environment etc. We are the only specie on earth today that enjoys this kind of “privilege” or "power".

It is Nature that has imparted us with this unique power in one way or another. (maybe by some "accidents" or the evolution theory.)

No other living thing has done as much (negative) physical impact to earth than us. Look at what we have done to Earth within the past few centuries…all these drastic (negative) changes had happened in a very short period of time if compared to Earth’s “age”. We can “achieve” this because of the gift that Nature has given to us, only that we have been using this gift IN A COMPLETELY WRONG WAY.

We created the modern Monetary/Financial system to help us run our human world. And while trying to maintain this system, we are enslaved to it and are seriously “hurt” by it. This system is about profit vs loss…it’s all about money... winning and losing. Money has no value to Earth. And we are fighting against each other, do harm to Earth and other living organisms because we want more power and more money….(what else should we be concern about ?)

Maybe we can’t be blamed? because we human beings are flawed creation...and so, how can we come up with a perfect system to guide all of us to a perfect world where everyone is happy, while we know that nothing is perfect or can be perfect? So should we continue to stick with this (monetary) system as we know that any other alternate system that we would create to replace this one will have similar or other equally troublesome problems as well?

I ask myself this question:

How “Natural” or how “Human” is this (monetary) system?

To me, it is against Nature’s well-being. It is against human’s well being.

The stronger the system, the less human we are. (should elaborate on this point)

But we are still supporting this system.

Can I say that we are victims of this system (to be stuck in it). we would all vote for a change (for the better) if we were asked right?

...hmm...maybe we should have a change. maybe we should stick with this system....(when can we come to a conclusion to this issue?)

We have been “programmed” by our fellow governors, teachers, society, entertainment industry etc to understand and serve this system. We are now “so aware” that we must "understand" and serve this system as efficiently as possible, if not we will not be able to prosper or SURVIVE? Just how “strong” we can be if we abandon this system?

We might have considered about all these issues before, but most of our efforts are gone to waste if our eventual reaction/decision is something like this…

"…Let's go with the FLOW (as everyone else seems to be dealing with it fairly well). Just ignore this BIG picture (it is too big a picture for a person, especially the commoner, to think and act differently and change anything of such a scale). Just mind what you’re doing, what you’re supposed to do and what you want to do. We are just a tiny speck of dust in the universe, what truly matters anyway? (this is our wise take on life)"

…and then we’ll fit right back into system. Never wanting this system to become "weak" again as it will further make our life less meaningful or worthy to live on.

To me, this decision is equivalent to selling your soul and humanity for the well-being of the system. And the most ironic thing about this is that we are selling our souls and humanity to something that we have created out of our mind, and not because of external threats such as the natural disasters or alien invasions.

In the process of maintaining this system, we have done a lot of inhuman acts. most of which we are not aware of...(i hope so)....and some which we are aware of! this is sick. very sick.

(i have tried to avoid "messing around with the system" and try to improve the quality of everyone's (problematic) life on other levels through other platforms. but now, i am pretty sure that what i truly wish for all mankind to have (peace, health and happiness) can never be attained if we continue to entertain this ridiculous world system about gaining personal profits.)

i don't think the rich and the famous are truly happy. so what's the point of the system if the people at the top are not truly happy, and the people at the bottom are not truly happy? and moreover, we are causing a hell lot of troubles to our "creators", Earth.

Nature has never attempt to make profit out of something. It has not demonstrates to us anything about gaining extra profit or winning, but about sharing and balancing. We are Earth’s product. We live on Earth. Just how dangerous it is if we are living our lives against Nature’s way of life? We may be able to find out soon. Till then, everything is too late.

We are really sick nowadays, far worse than people of the past. This system makes us sick and inhuman. The amount of "harms" that we have inflicted upon ourselves or have allowed to be inflicted on us will soon exceed our very own limit...we are breaking down.

and Earth will balance out our negative thoughts and behaviours by unleashing series of natural disasters upon mankind. I believe this is at least 80% true. Nature is not revenging, it does not harbour any personal intention or interest in anything. Nature is just reflecting our deeds and counter-balancing everything that comes and goes along. And when we are putting up absolute outrageous behaviours? The Nature will answer us with outrageous behaviours. Take that. and hey...can we afford to take it? Human is nothing compared to the "power" that Nature possesses.

Then why still do the (inhuman) things that we are doing now? I beg for an answer. I don't think that those "governors/controllers" way up there do not understand the weigh of this matter...but why are we still doing it?

are we really all brain-washed? is it too late to change for the better?

In fact, we are at the best position to change for the better now because of the technology that we possess now. .. we just have to use them for the right purpose.

Unfortunately, there is no english subtitles for this video. I'll briefly explain here...this part of the film used a few of China's historical events to explain that there is a close connection between Mankind and Nature, and a peaceful relationship should be maintained at all time so as to live a peaceful life on Earth. Those people during ancient times would carry out "worshiping" events annually to show their recognition of Nature's important role in their lives and commitment towards maintaining a peaceful relationship with Nature. and Nature does react and answer to human's calling when a healthy bond is established or reestablished.

...Okay, i shall sum things up.

Our every movements affect our surroundings. Nature's every movements affect us. not just our (physical) actions can affect the things around us, our thoughts and feelings can physically affect them as well ...even if we did not act them out.

Hence, we should maintain a positive attitude towards life, others and everything else. (this could reduce the possibility of any further "natural" disaster perhaps?) So, we should be responsible for how we feel, think and act. on a more precise matter, in response to the video about Water can react to our writings and speech, we should be responsible for the words that we speak, the words that we type and write. try to GENERATE LOVE AND HOPE. yes, we can.

this is the simplest and the most effective solution. we'll feel better...we'll become better...and Earth may become more stable too.

All the little things that we do will have a GLOBAL EFFECT. (it is only too little to be noticed.)

When all mankind is feeling "sick" and behaving abnormally...(against human nature)...then Earth will be affected too. more so when i think that we are Earth's special children. our well being will have a great impact on Earth.

There are so much for us to do in order to steer back to the right direction.

What we need to do now is to reestablish the link between us and Nature. We should live our lives according to how the Nature lives or operates, that is to share (care) and maintain balance (sustainability). And i think within a short period of time, we will "regain our humanity back" and then we can truly enjoy the wonders that Nature has provide us with.

Strangely and sadly, such simple act seems to be the hardest thing to do too.

Follow your empathetic heart. Think like a normal human being who regards Earth as home and the Nature as the source of life and happiness. And most importantly, act like one.

After all, this global issue/tragedy will not be stopped simply by our emotional thoughts and feelings. Appropriate actions have to be taken, if not the (monetary) system or "The Invisible Pet Monster" that we have created, raised and supported till now to "take care" of us will only serve to devour us all in the end.

We should support a system that supports the well being of mankind and Nature (and this will be discussed next time.)

but before this can happen, please stay strong and positive. keep generating love and hope. and act decisively when needed.

ok, i'm blogging for the sake of blogging today.
it's a little bit about blogging consistently...at least once a month. then i will feel better when i look at my Grand History section. dunno why. hahaa

school work is piling up lately. lots of group works. lots to learn and do. i'm cool with that :)

Hong Kong is finally getting warmer...i do enjoy the cold weather here...but i will not be able to stand it if such weather goes on for too long....cos it makes me feel lazy...or inactive...which means that i am more reluctant to exercise during this days. yeah....blame it on the (nice) weather. lol.
the basketball in my house is for decoration purpose nowadays.

but i am still faithfully following the NBA :P
just recently, Boston Celtics has traded Kendrick Perkins and Nate Robinson away for two quicker players. The management side of the team believes that these two new players can help them to compete better when playing against Orlando Magic and Miami Heat (strong and quick teams). I really not sure if this move is smart one or not. but i very sure that i will miss Kendrick and Nate alot...i want Boston Celtics to win the title this year....with Kendrick & Nate in it :(
and yea, congratulations to Ray Allen for becoming the player who makes the most 3 pointers in NBA history. go Ray! and i enjoy seeing your mum cheering for you at the courtside all the time!

hmm wat else? I guess i'll finish my 2nd semester somewhere around early May. I hope i can visit Singapore for around 5-7 days after that?! the mini problem now is that i don't really have a place to stay. see if i can stay at my cousin's house (he settled down in Singapore after i left, haha, never got a chance to see him for such a long time! and his wife! and their daughter!) ok. i'll try to find out. if there's no room for me to stay...i'll shall reach out to my friends in singapore! hee hee~

have to say this...I miss all my friends in singapore! my life in singapore is FANTASTIC because of you guys. i'm really blessed to be able to say that i had an amazing 15 plus years in singapore. now, i have to look forward of cos...but i will always look back to life in the past and smile...and to remember that i was once a happy kid! the growing up part...which is now...(yes, i'm still at the growing up part)...is pretty damn hard. and it's kinda more difficult when i'm sort of restarting my life here in HK. ...it's always hard during the beginning....and when you get to be more familiar with what's going on around you, you'll start to enjoy everything about it. hope this understanding can help me go through the time when i feel (kinda) lost here. i'll take it slow and easy :)

2011 it is!

and the month of January is going to be the past soon! I know it's a mindset thingy...cos when i'm so looking forward to this year and have this hunch that it will be pretty good (not sure for wat reason)...and this year really seems to be much better than 2010. yeah, it's only one month for 2011…at least it’s a good start haha

well, first of all...i'm very happy with timetable for Sem B, and i'm even more happy to know that the elective courses i've picked are great courses with great lecturers...shall brief through all of the courses when i'm done with Sem B! I shall enjoy this wonderful ride first, yea!

hmm anyway, i've been visiting shenzhen for several weekends already as I'm seeing this Chinese doctor, who will now take care of my health problems from now on, lol. yea, he is now prescribing me with chinese medicine...that will help to RE-BALANCE THE CORRUPTED FLOW OF 'YING AND YANG' IN MY FREAKING BODY. yes, my body has 'crashed' several times upon my return to HK, and i'm really in bad shape those days. Feeling restless, can't concentrate well, no appetite, slow in movement, lousy mood etc. Having enough rest, drinking enough water, eating enough food is not helping my case i realised. So during the holiday after Sem A, i've decided to go to ShenZhen and seek help from the doctors there (for I believe they are more ‘pro’ than the chinese doctors in HK)…and i'm extremely fortunate to be able to meet Doctor Gu, who has already helped me to gain much of my health back during the process! but there still a lot of 'recovery' to be done lahhhhhhh.... :P

HEALTH is so important (we all know that). but i've neglected it for such a long time...

I've been thinking whether I should head back to specialise in Animation (again) or should I follow my actual plan to specialise in Cinematic Arts (related to filming)... BUT after weighing all the pros and cons, with relation to my Degree study, school, lecturers, interest…etc…. I've decided to stick to my initial plan! For i still believe that it's essential for me to experience filming (for I love this medium too!) even if I can pretty much see myself not going to work in this field in the future. (but who knows!)

for now, I have more interest to work in an animation or a comic industry..hopefully I can land a proper job at these areas…and have a good start for my freaking career, lol! YES, I’m freaking worried about my freaking future.

I guess that why my health is getting poorer recently…I worried too much. (but who doesn’t!)

ok! time's up. gotta head to school soon!

btw, sometime i really want to quit sch and just stay in my hse to paint and draw all day long, for the next five years....

wow. 2010.

the big transitional year for me.

overall, it's quite a weird ride for me. i can't say this year is normal, hell or heaven. it's a very weird mix of everything.

haha, mus be too much ups and downs and spin around this year. still having motion sickness i guess. so i can't decide if this is a good or bad year for me. maybe more of a negative thing bah...cos i dun feel very positive while trying to feel 2010 as a whole. but then......er....still...then...so....erm...

my health is really bad this year. got skinnier/lighter/more invisible after a stomach flu!

yea. 2010 is pretty much done. I'M SO LOOKING FORWARD TO A NEW YEAR RIGHT NOW! perhaps I just want some new energy to flow into me, to feel fresh again :)

dun know why...I have this feeling that 2011 is going to be great! hope that i'm right!

oh ya, i've finally bought a new bag to replaced the really old one, lol! yay, so happy!

yay,143 posts! jus nice i've saw some interesting new blogskins on the blog site, so i decided to conveniently change my blogskin to celebrate for this entry, haha!

Almost been living in HK for close to 5 months, and it's quite a monotonous one haha, for i was basically very committed to my study. Shall briefly summarise.

As my University life truly kick start after September 21, the last time I’ve blogged, I was kind of M.I.A (not active in facebook, msn and blog) until I’m done with the semester. Why? I need to concentrate. And this is Mission Impossible: Infinity.

This semester has involved with many new topics/subjects for me to study, and I’m glad that this was happening as I want to learn new things. Okay, I shall run through the subjects that I’ve taken so far…Informally of cos…

Core Modules

+Creative Writing in Chinese

What? Writing creatively in chinese, duh. And then? I am extremely slow in reading long chinese text, be it traditional chinese (for HK) or simplified chinese (don’t think I can improve much on this. Shit.) Still writes with pencil, lol. If I write in pen, I think I can do so much cancelling and stuff until u can’t see what I’m writing. I can’t express myself properly (dunno why). I realized that my chinese suck big time. seriously. Fortunately, the part-time lecturer (full time writer) is great at teaching this subject, learnt a lot from her.

+Photography

What? It’s an intro course. Gotta try the dark room to produce my very own black and white photo. So? Got to learn about decisive moments, portraits, landscapes, visual poem and other photography related study material. Great exposure for a beginner like me. I’m glad I’ve gone through this module :P

+Sound Basics and Design

I suck at this module. But this could be the best thing to happen on me if only I can follow the lecturer and learn more about Cubase software and those theories and information about sound and design. In a nutshell, I love sound and music, but I just suck at it. Damn sad.

What? I’ve passed the test that I’ve mentioned last time. and so I’m supposed to take a more advance course. Well, this course was very basic too, but it’s so freaking important to me, for I’ve not ‘laid any foundation’ for English since primary sch, lol. Learn about different type of writings. So? English improved! But still stuck at beginner level lah.

Electives

+Lifestyle Diversity and Choices

Yeap. I chose this course. I think it is quite cool. And indeed, it’s really cool, haha! Every week the lecturer would cover a new topic…about diversity and life choices. He made us question about the norms and standards and stuff. Useful for me :)

+Rational Thinking and Creative Ideas

Yeap. I chose this course cos I think I need to learn more about rational thinking….and creative ideas. And indeed, I did learn abit more about these topics, but i firmly know that the course can be a much better one, as the lecturer was solely reading off the powerpoint slides 90% of the time.

Even though I've spend most of my time in study, i don't think i faring well in terms of grades, but that's not my concern, as long as i can maintain a gpa of around 3 and i can learn great/new things which is what is happening now. so everything is going pretty well :D

Alrite, this is the best I can share about my studies so far. Can’t go into the details, because I should stop writing anymore sch related stuff, haha. Have been spending too much time on these (seemingly easy) subjects.

Cool, I was born with a rare gift, Anti-mental-focus ability, a kind of natural-body-reflex behavior that helps me to defocus on the thing that I want to focus on. (In other words, I get distracted easily.) With this inborn ability to be able to easily think about something else while doing something, is really something really troublesome when time just slipped away like that. Every sec counts. I don’t dare to count…

Another way to put it. My brain can multi task pretty well. It can think about 5 things in 1 second. Send signals to instruct my body to execute the 5 thoughts/tasks in the next second….which my body cannot react normally to. What’s next? Whole body hang for 1min 30seconds. Restart brain, restart body. Work normally, one thing at a time. 2 min 46.3 sec later. My brain starts to multi task again. Nice.

Okay, cut the crap. Actually, I just want to apologise to my friends for being unresponsive in the internet platform. Please understand my strange condition, haha. I can't afford to assign one more task to my brain for now. will fix this prob!

Anyway, I love my home here in HK. The location of this house is EPIC GREAT. It’s near my sch, near train station, near basketball court, near several food stores, near the market and it is near the art center where my parents teach chinese painting there.

Hmmm, I did not play basketball or exercise for a few months already. It’s been awhile since I last weigh myself, if I’m lucky, I should be around the same feather light weight as before. Great.

NBA. Boston Celtics!!! Beautiful ballgame. Miami Heat! Yucks. Rockets! Dissapointing and Sad for Yao. Mavericks! Interesting. Lakers! Pau Gasless. Spurs! Classic. OKC! OKCool. Not really concern about other teams, haha.

Starcraft 2? Hell…Maybe next time.

Movies watched online? The Social Network. It’s not easy for me to be interested in a ‘lawsuits and dialogues’ oriented film, I’m glad I enjoyed this one. Finally…I’ve watched Inglourious Basterds. Quite refreshing. That Germany Colonel guy’s acting is great, no wonder he won so many award for that role. Credits to the director for crafting such an interesting character. Nice show!

Vids I’ve watched on Youtube. Tons. These things are the nutrients for my brain to multi task (in a wrong way) and thus causing my body to malfunction, lol. I don’t think I’m addicted to youtube. I’m addicted to the informations I can get from there. The amount of treasures and shit flowing into this platform is crazy! While I’m a treasure hunter, I’ve successfully retrieved many great stuff from it, but during the process, I’ve ocassionally fell into the dark side and watched stuff like spoofs, collegehumor, lame world records, pets, baby laughing, all those vids with ‘most’, ‘epic’, ‘-est’… there goes my time. my precious time. my eyes. my precious eye(sight). my health. my precious health. my life. my precious life. Still, youtube rocks.

On a side note, over dosage of (good) information can be quite devastating too.

On a side note, as time can be my biggest enemy, it can be my best friend too. (still trying)

Hmm, life is okay so far, sometimes i would feel damn low though. this school is pretty confusing. or maybe i'm stoooopeed...(swallowed hard)...i...i...i...haiz...

anw, I'm super unproductive and rusty nowadays. *&^*%^$&&* super angry with myself *^&^$%^#%. I don't understand why i just can't concentrate on my work. i find it hard to read long passages. and i took super long to do english and chinese essay writings&^&^&$%@#@($& I find it very hard to express myself when writing. (*&^*%*^%789 there are so many simple chinese words that i've forgotten how to write, and have to look up online dictionary all the time. and i only know these little amount of vocab...hence i hav difficulty doing descriptive writing. haiz....i'll take it slow bah....*%%$%#$%^$#@

oh ya, this is the ONLY finished work i hav done since the day i've came back to HK. and i forgot to thank this guy, Teo Min, for helping me to install Photoshop into my computer (so that i can add colour to this ink work)... Thanks man! btw, Teo Min is the first person from SG to drop by in HK and meet up with me so far!

i wish to draw more...but i'm too slow with my school work...in the end, no time. wth. shit.
i'll be very busy...cos the assignments' deadlines are nearing, and then new assignments with three times the difficulty are coming, bla bla bla....

oh oh...i've watched Satoshi Kon's Millenium Actress...i give it 7.5/10...and Feng Xiaogang's Aftershock....i give it 9/10. (luckily i watched Aftershock at home, for i can't stop crying lol) ...brilliant works! must watch!

i've just watched finished 'Tokyo Godfathers' online. Have always been wanting to watching this anime film created by Satoshi Kon, and until recently I almost got to borrow the DVD from CityU's library, only to realise that it was being borrowed by somebody else. In the end, i couldn't wait anymore and decided to stream it online and watch it while i hav the time this morning.

I jus feel that I hav to watch this film somehow...and i know that i will like it...simply because i enjoyed his other works very much (Paprika and Perfect Blue) ...his works are very realistic and yet very imaginative or at least entertaining to me. He create films through his own unique vision, and everyone mus really work with him closely in order to realise the work. He is just like another Hayao Miyazaki...just that Satoshi Kon has his own approach to filmmaking...they were both amazing ppl.

how i wish i can be like them. it's a difficult path to follow...or lead...but this is really what i want to do. to write my own scripts, and make these ideas into films with a group of ppl. it's a wonderful process. I look up to these giants in this entertainment industry...hoping to draw strengths and inspirations from them and their works, and then continue to realise my own dream or goal.

As the show 'Tokyo Godfathers' ended, i have once again, found new strengths to carry on with my life. It's a pretty simple story...but the storytelling and the interesting characters have made this films very entertaining to watch. and as usual, i would go online and read the reviews, as well as trying to find out more abt the show or any latest news about director Satoshi Kon.

... Quoting from the Wikipedia......"On May 2010, Kon was diagnosed with terminal pancreatic cancer. Given half a year to live, Kon chose to spend the remainder of his life in his home. Before his death, Kon uploaded a final message onto his blog. Kon died on August 24, 2010 at the age of 46."

i'm totally devastated right now. As his fans or people who appreciate his works, we all know that he was now at his prime of his career, which means that we are all expecting more great works from him! and his most recent project would be 'The Dream Machine'...his fifth film...but unfortunately, the cancer took away his life before he could finish the film.

I feel that Satoshi Kon is creating films of his own genre...i really don't want to accept this cruel truth... whyyy?

i've been living in HK for more than a month! i'm still quite unfamiliar with this part of the world actually.

it's not easy to set up a house. not mentioning setting up a family and running it well. (lol at my english)

anw, the hse is finally ready today. yea, it's Operational Ready Date (ORD) is 28 August 2010 haahahah! i had a 1 month Basic-Renovation-Training with it...and the end result is pretty satisfying. the house will only get better and better..as opposed to my deteriorating fitness, lol!

and so i've been spending quite some time 'fixing' my timetable. the reason i can blog now is because i've managed to get a particular elective module that would give me a better timetable overall. If not, i'll hav lessons from 9.30am till 3.30pm straight on friday!! i won't go into the details, but basically the students of Hong Kong cityU hav to register quite a number of modules by themselves everytime before the semester starts, on a first-come-first-serve basis.

on a side note, the university is really near my hse as i just need to walk for 15-20mins to get there. the walk from my home to school is a quiet and a pleasant one...i love that walk. this also means that i can jolly well choose a 3hour lesson and place it on any day on my timetable and not to worry that i will be wasting a lot of travel time and energy if i'm just going to school to have a 3 hour lesson on tat day...becos i only need 40mins travel time in total...and i love that walk. haha! yup, most students need to spend a lot of travel time and transportation fee to go to school, and so they prefer to cramp their timetable...and hope to free up one or two days..and relax at home. not bad either :)

alrite i hav talked enough about how flexible i can be about my timetable haha, and tats all i can share for now. for school is starting this coming monday...whereby ther will be a very formal Orientation week organised by the school lecturers and lots of tasks hav to be done....(in order to earn e-money that u will need to use in sch in the near future)...so i can't screw it up...and so i'll be busy!

alrite, i'm currently using the computers available in HK cityU's library! since i can use the com for as long as i can, i've decided to blog a little today :)

yup, 2 more weeks till sch starts. and i hav already met quite a number of freshmen through the orientation grp tat i'm in...haven't really know everybody well, but i know they are all nice ppl haha! will get to know them better when i'm in the 3 days 2 nights O'camp i guess :)

btw, my orientation house's colour is Red! and i was in the Red House when i was in my Primary School, nice. it's really like going through 'Rebirth' or a 'Retake' after I hav left Singapore. And i hope that i would do better this time! I want to be someone more independant, more dependable, more mature, more determined and less lame, haha!

I believe that i'm pretty close to 'Death' during the moment i stepped into the Departure Hall at the Budget Terminal on the day i'm leaving singapore, for this decision to leave is equilvalent to killing 'Lee Yeung' (my old self), someone who has similar personality as Woody of Toy Story, in hope of becoming 'Lee Hou Yeung', the grand master of Film and Art, lol! and i had also paid the price of leaving my frens and giving up watever-watever that i hav built on in Singapore just because I feel that I hav to take this path if I want to be Lee Hou Yeung. there's a time for everything to happen, and this is the time to decide who i really should become, hence 'killing' Lee Yeung for now seems to be the right thing to do.

and for several days, when i jus got back to Hong Kong, i was a walking zombie.

who the hell is Lee Hou Yeung? i was at loss. those pain, doubt and emptiness that i was having almost killed Lee Hou Yeung too. all i know now is that i jus need to do well in what i'm supposed to do...dun care abt the big picture too much. tats all i can do now.

fortunately, i hav my parents by my side during that time. and i got really busy with the renovation and the buying of furniture for my new place to stay, thus helping me not to think much about other things that would possibly 'kill' myself over and over again. While i still can't go online at hm to catch up with frens and relatives, I've spent most of my nights watching and playing basketball!!!!! (oh yea, my Dell computer has not arrived yet haha)

i took the English Placement Test. i didn't do well....shit. but yea, the result would only reflect if i have passed or failed the test. if i pass i'll take a more advance english course, if i fail i'll take the less advance english course. so the fact is that everyone in the Uni hav to take up English study to fulfil certain credit requirement! so yup, pass or fail, jus study la!

my application to study in Hong Kong City University was successful. gotta thank my frens for their well wishing...yup, i'll work hard!

I'm pretty excited about it. I can foresee alot of stress and workload in the near future...life is going to be pretty challenging and brutal. but i eat that for breakfast...lol. sounds wrong.

eh..life is actually pretty sucky rite now...maybe becos i'm going to leave Singapore...aiya...it's complicated, lol.

Leaving and Living

First of all, I wish to let everyone know that I'm very contented with my life so far. I just feel that I'm blessed with so many good things around me. Thank all!

alrite, what's going on right now? let's come clean, lol.
Now that I have finished my National Service, I will be going back to Hong Kong this year.
My parents had already sold the house in Singapore. yea, no house in Sg anymore. Possibility to come back to Sg reduces to 25% (still quite high though). why? so that we can hav some cash in hand and oso buy a house in Hong Kong for me to stay and study. SWEET. before this, my parents are staying in Shen Zhen and they will continue to live there though they work in HK (but just for few days in a week as Art Teachers). yea, the hse in HK is gonna be pretty damn small..but more than enough space for the skinny me to mess ard.

clear so far? okay let's move on. I will be going for my Uni's course's interview on 3rd June. Will fly on 1st June, and will return back to Singapore on 6th June. If the Hong Kong City University's Creative Media Bachelor Course accepts me, then my school will start on September this year. And so between 6th June till the end of July, I've decided to stay in Singapore and spend more time with my friends before I put my heart and soul into ART all over again. my beloved Pearl Bank Apartment's unit #33-xxxxx will be handed over tmr on the 25th May!!! will miss the super amazing view from my ultra mini balcony!!! haha, so where to stay for now? at Khatib!! (long story as to why i'm staying there)
YUP, pls call me up for more outings and gatherings!!!

BY THE WAY, My parents came back to Singapore on 13th May's night. And it's only until 23rd, then we've finished packing the things that we want to ship back to Hong Kong and ShenZhen. Total 27 boxes of REAL GOOD STUFF. hahaahaha!! and we've thrown away another few tonnes of REAL GOOD STUFF as well!!! as there were too many REAL GOOD STUFF STUFFED in our hse and it's too many to bring all back. (yea, i've exaggerated abit...but u noe wat i mean?) My parents, my sis and I are all artists/designers and collectors. we generate a lot of things (artworks) and we keep all of them! and if we oso collect stuff bla bla bla...I think 'moving house' is a BIG issue here. in the end, we've thrown away countless books, mainly art related stuff, countless good papers for chinese ink to draw, countless little deco items, countless countless drawings from 2 chinese painters (my dad and mum), a once-fashion-design-student (my sister) and once-NYP-animation student (me). HOLY SHIT. and lots of art frames. and believe it anot, i have been throwing alot of textbooks, magazines and stuff to the recycle bins until i give up. oh yes, those exquisite rosewood furnitures! all 'donated' to the 'house-movers'. and those electronic items and many moreeee....ALL CLEAR. and that equals to...PAIN PAIN PAIN...becos of many reasons, we do not hav enough time to clear and give away the 'treasures' :(
haha, when the hse is empty...it is really quite spacious. I like. but sad that i can't enjoy this wonderful space in this wonderful spot in Singapore much.

kk, here are some questions that i wish to answer haha...

why leave Singapore?
There is ONE main reason. I want to realise my dreams of making my own movies. And I see that Hong Kong has provided me with the best possibility. I know that sooner or later, I would work there and gain invaluable work experience. at first I planned to work in Singapore for a couple of years after Army, then go to HK (without going thru University study)...but, as half way thru the Army, I see that it would be better that i study Uni in HK, make more friends, be more familiar with HK, spend more quality time with my parents and relatives there, and really live an exciting life in HK as a student, then a worker...haha!!
and so, my parents did all that could do to this idea work...as they would LOVE to get me back into their arms asap, lol!! yea, and of cos, i don't think i'm ready for this super competitive industry yet...and so, one reason leads to another...I have to go in 2010. (2012 world ends rite? hahaha...nehh~)

So u mean Singapore cannot realise your dreams issit? u wana fight huh? huh huh huh???
ermmm...haha, let me explain why. My works are mainly inspired from works by China, America, Japan, Hong Kong and France. and believe it or not, I think my target audience or ppl who will be more interested in my stuff are the people of China and Hong Kong as my works is hugely about them. So it is only logical to go to China or Hong Kong and mingle with them, be inspired even more, learn more about them and work my concept/ideas out with them in order to get the best possible result of those RAW ideas that i'm SO CRAZY about!!! it's purely about my taste, my sources, my market and my interest.
and i wish to add on, I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to shoot a live action movie in Singapore about Singapore for Singapore and the world to watch!!! but this is not the first thing i can do so far, but its one thing that i really wish to do.

Did you consider serving the Army as a waste of time?
NO. provided I've tried really hard to make the best out of it, and fortunately enough, the Lee Hou Yeung after Army is possibly 10 times wiser and tougher than before.

Would you think that you would be a 'better' Lee Hou Yeung if you've never come to Singapore at all?
if anyone would ask me this qns, here's my answer...I'm proud to tell everyone that I'm extremely happy with who I am now. and living in Singapore for 17 years had definitely play a HUGE part of who I am now. and I won't want to change anything abt it. in order words, the 'me' now is the BEST me :)

Any back up plans?
The first thing that has came to my mind is to come back to Singapore and be a lecturer teaching Art and design. Now that i don't even have a house here, i really don't think that i will return to Singapore and make a living. if i screwed up in HK, i shall continue to screw up over there i guess, hahahaha!!!!

Can we stay at your place when we go to HK for holiday?
HAHAAHAH! good question. here's a good answer too. I'LL TRY, but not very possible.

how sure are you about making your dreams come true? seems super hard to achieve, lol!!
trying something and then getting a definite result/answer for it is always better than guessing and pondering over it and not taking action at all. I hate doubtful feelings. yes, all men prefer definite answers. btw, nothing is a 'Fail' to me.
I oso have several definitions on Dream and Success...and to be right, i'm already living my dream (ya, in your dreams)...i just wana live it BIG, hahahah! from ideas, to papers, to books, to short films, to feature length films, to franchise, to hall of fame, to history books and then die with a smile on my face. I think the main reason why it's kinda hard for me to post frequently is because i don't like to blog over casually, like..'crap, i hate the weather and tuesday sucks.' -end post.

in the end, i've chose to sum up things and blog about it in monthly basis and also provide some little details here and there..and then post some art works, links or photos to make the posts more 'yummy' to read hahaha

but it's kinda slow...

then suddenly facebook emerges and has become our ultimate 'information and daily updates' platform for our family and friends. it is EXTREMELY casual, informative and accessible. not bad~

but i feel abit uncomfortable when those informations (from me or from my friends) can vary from absolute nonsense to something totally personal. some are just seeking for attentions, some are really casual comments abt daily lifes, some are pretty good infos that are worth sharing. so there are alot of good infos and bad infos coming in 24/7...come and gone. abit too fast for me, abit too casual for me. and of cos, not everyone is expected to follow all the updates from the facebook, so it's perfectly fine to M.I.A and then miss out everything, if not tons of infos.

yea, u can always back-track on those 'missed out infos' by going to your friend's profile page and go thru what he or she has been doing over the week or weeks. no prob at all. but sometimes i think that i have been wasting time, instead of saving time to catch up with my friends or keeping in touch. hahaha, i can't really sort out evidence to support this statement, but thats how i feel now.

i feel that keeping my account 'alive' or ultra-responsive means that i'm living in/with facebook. not a very healthy sign for me. there should be a 'safety' distance between the user and the facebook.

btw, let's say i totally dun wana attend to my facebook account...your friends can still write on your wall and 'help' u update abt the things u've done with them. what's better, they can post photos with u inside and share them with all your friends. ...nope, u can't delete those comments and photos with u inside. those comments and photos belong to your friends'. it's already out there. probably 20 ppl saw the comments or photos when they are uploaded 5 secs later lol. too fast too furious isn't it?

yea, i dun really like this aspect of facebook. not that i have much to hide. I jus prefer more privacy and control over things that involves me.

now, facebook is almost a must-have. so, we will have to deal with this ability given to the users. some enjoy it while others don't. I will still keep the account because it really is wonderful in many aspects...but the 'good stuff' can also back fire on you in a way u may not even know it.

(and if the piece of information really needs to reach to u. i think that handphones and email is still the best way. )

my (rather casual) conclusion abt facebook, is that it is overly informative and accessible, hence we have to use it very carefully and wisely to our advantage. and bare in mind that facebook can be equally devastating as how helpful/useful it is.

well, I still like blogging alot. i have 100% control over what is going on on my blog. all the contents are generated by me, and sincerely from me. the informations will stay as long as the blog exists. i'm the writer as well as the creative director for what i've 'published' on my 'monthly magazine' for my readers. and then i can always go back to my first posts and relive my life all over again. the flow and connection from post to post is quite special to me, and i value it.

note that facebook is not equal to blogging. both are very different thing. but i'm trying to compare them from accessing and providing information's perspective.

i stll have alot of other things to talk about...but i hav tons of things waiting for me to accomplish in a very short time.

luckily i managed to squeeze some time and energy to write a post for now....when all things are pretty much settled down...i would like to write something more personal and detailed for sharing as well as review in the future.

heyo! today i shall tok abt things that motivate and inspire me greatly...

Kenji Kawai's music has shocked my soul 360 degree!!! recently i've been playing his music using the ipod touch that my sis gave me (thanx sis!)...and i shut myself off from the real world...looping the sound tracks and jus kept on writing on my story ideas...and of cos, these ideas share similar feel or approach with the music.
and this live concert performance is so fantastic that i mus share with u all! how i wish i was there!!

if i introduce the music, then i must oso introduce this epic sequence from the anime movie, Ghost in the Shell:Innocence. this sequence has consumed my mind and soul...probably because of the chinese futuristic themes...the details...the effort...the creativity...and the music....
so ya, 'Butterfly Language'(my humble creation) will try to match that, LOL!

SHANGHAI EXPO 2010! i really love Shanghai's Pavilion's design. there are quite a lot of great architectural designs in here...enjoy!

this is a great preview of the place! definitely mus visit there one day! yea, i don't think the end result will look SO nice....but this set-up/ plan is pretty epic..i like!

btw, i hope more buildings that carry cultural background and a sense of identity to be built in the future...imagine a city of futuristic chinese buildings!wowowow!!!
i shall come up with the blue print asap...haha!

alrite, i've just visited Pixar's exhibition at Singapore Science Centre yesterday. Its a great experience...everyone who watched any of Pixar's films and like it should pay a visit.

I'm totally motivated to work on my own projects now :)

Wong Kar Wai's films. OMG. his films are f***ing good! I feel that he is so underrated. but there's no surprise here, cos his films aren't dedicated to the mass audience due to his themes, pace and probably execution wise. but thats what make his films so nice to me!

i love the approach abt the bird with legs. Featuring one of my fav actor, Leslie Cheung. i'll rewatch the show when i'm free!

haha, now i even have plans to make a short film abt Chinatown of Singapore. i'll try my best to make this possible.

and i've been consuming weight gainer recently! for a month already :) have been working out...drinking the chocolate taste drink with 55g of fats per serving, twice a day! and luckily, i'm really putting on some weight...but very slowly hahaha! will persevere! i can do it!!!

and i've been reading Tao De Ching (by Lao Zi)...will go read up abt Zhuang Zi...and will continue to read up abt I-Ching...i'm jus trying to understand more abt Chinese culture and the wisdom from the great thinkers.

going to ORD soon...there's no better news than this.

Hmm, i've left my wallet at Macdonald twice before, and found it after i've left the place for 5 to 10 minutes long. The 3rd time aint so lucky for me, haha! I lost my wallet at the cinema after watching Summer wars...damn, forgot to do 'Equipment Check'! (the army always do this to ensure nothing is lost as we move from point to point.) it's one of the most useful practises that i've learnt from the army and i just failed to apply it before I've left the cinema :(
but luckily, my 11B and camp pass is not kept in that wallet. Phew!

i am not very productive recently, but it's okay, haha!

aniwae, here's a few more casual movie reviews...

Summer Wars:
It costs me 100 plus dollars (my wallet) for this show. yes, the movie is so entertaining, hahaha!

Hurt Locker:
Great movie about the army boys, specifically the bomb specialists in this case. The script is good, the acting is good, the action is good, the director did a great job.
Yea, this show OWNED Avatar in the Oscars. but if you let me choose who's gonna win for Best Picture, I would say its a draw! and if i really have to choose, i would say it's Avatar. (lazy to explain, but tats my choice.)

Silence of the Lambs:
Anthony Hopkins is freaking awesome in this show!!

Nana:
Jap movie based on a popular manga. I kinda like the movie.

Goemon:
The visuals are pretty fantastic. I like the city, the costumes, and the show's 'colour scheme'. but there are just too many little flaws that pull you away from this world.

so i shall just do a recap of the movies i've watched recently!
some watched in cinema, some watched on psp, some watched online...
I'll oso provide some short and casual comments for the films...
not in orders to which i watched them...

No country for old men:
i enjoyed how the killer deal with things, and how he kill the people. style.

Apocalypse Now:
from the director of Godfather. worth watching, but not super fantastic as i expected it to be.

Juno:
I love Ellen Page's role. I like the whole show very much.

Couples Retreat:
Funny and entertaining. its a show good for singles to watch too.

Pursuit of Happyness:
its not the hardest pursuit one can imagine of. but its really quite inspiring to watch. i watched the show partly becos i wana see Will Smith's son who is acting as his son in the show, nice.

Zombieland:
best cameo ever. super entertaining for me. the final showdown abit poorly handled, in other words, dumb.

Bodyguards and Assassins:
nice storyline. leon lai made me laugh. Wang Xue Qi's acting damn good. One of my favourite actor of the older generation.

Mei Lan Fang:
Leon lai (acting as the old Mei Lan Fang) fails again. Wang Xue Qi rocks. and the guy acting as the young Mei Lan Fang is pretty perfect haha!

14 Blades:
Just watch for the actions.

Percy Jackson and the lightning thief:
freaking silly plot.

Schindler's List:
One of Steven Spielberg's great works. The ending is very touching. I like Liam Neeson.

Taken:
yeah, Liam Neeson rocks.

Sweetney Todd:
'I'll steal you Joanna~' very nice song

Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus:
so-so show. but its nice to see those movie stars coming together to finish this film.

The Wrestler:
Awesome show. the lead actor (the wrestler of cos) will be casted as the villain with some electronic wip in Iron Man 2.

Hangover:
I don't like the show.

Ponyo:
Nice 2d film. i'm not sure abt the story telling, abit too simple? Nonetheless, it's a magical film. And after i've watched a documentary abt the making of, I began to appreciate the film much much more. Long live Hayao Miyazaki.

Daybreaker:
the second half of the show is extremely disappointing.

Storm warriors:
Error 404. (damn, i just can't stop slamming this show, lol)

Avatar:
the technology for the captured performance is outstanding. the visual is great. but i'm not a big fan of that world or the story though.

Bright Star:
Ben Wishaw is truly amazing. and of cos, the film is beautifully shot. i like this show!

I believe that are some shows that i've watched but just can't rmb...but anw, this shall be all. and there are still a lot of shows that i want to watch but haven't watch, haha!

Yes!!!! i've finally took my Oath to become a true Singapore Citizen at the age of 21 :)

serving 2 years of army and then go back HK for good sounds absurd. but i have no regrets. In fact, i want to serve the army. I love to torture myself. I want to throw myself into a shit hole and then experience all the negative shit that can happen when u've lost your freedom and to do something against your will...i intend to overcome the shit and then return to the 'civilian' world with a new insight abt life. cos i've never think tat i'm 'strong' enough for this world...and i believe that taking in more shit now will help me to make less 'fatal' mistakes in the future.

but of cos, i mus know how to convert shitty experience into golden wisdom (if u noe what i mean)

yea, 2 years of shit is really a freaking long period of time. especially when it occurs when you're most youthful and energetic. what a waste. I mus be crazy to be enjoying this..... no, i don't enjoy this at all. but i'm just believe that this is the correct path to take. i have a hunch that this experience is gold, haha!
i must be a sadist to be laughing abt this.

aniwae, I think i've finally come to a stage where i can hate nothing, and can love and appreciate everything. I love every single bit about life and the universe. it's a great feeling. and i have this feeling with me all the time now!

one can actually train/practise to acquire such an attitude towards life...

okay, my 130th post for the new year. not bad~

2 things is gonna happen this year for me.

ORD (getting out of army) and getting my ass back to Hong Kong.

I've been anticipating this since last year haha!

unlike last year, i'm expecting A LOT from this year. and any year after this year...until 2012, lol!

it would be best if there's an overseas trip with my frens this year after i ORD.

okay, another big transition is going to happen. but i'm 30% ready only, haha!

lots of prep-work needed to be done.

Fruitful 2009!

I briefly read through my entries of 2009. Its great to know that i've smoothly sail through 2009, the year whereby i'm gonna serve one whole year of National Service. it's quite an accomplishment already :)

but 2009 have more significant things than that.

My one and only 21st Birthday celebration held in the camp. I really expect nothing, but it turn out to be one fine mini party. thanks to my army frens. and of cos, those who wished me birthday! i believe i have failed to give most of u guys birthday wishes, the super forgetful me is super sorry! Happy belated Birthday everyone! ( too late lah, brother...)

My training trips to Germany and Australia were both fantastic in their own way!

i oso got my marksman this year. (good shooting skill). SHIOK!

but i injured my right knee from long distance running. SUCKS!

aniwae, i'm very proud to say that i'm pretty disciplined this year. I've cut down on playing, and put focus on reading books, drawing and writing stories. the result was more than satisfactory!
i've improved quite abit in my art. mainly on the control of my medium. things look nicer only, not fantastic yet. I foresee next year, i'll up my skill and knowledge more, and i'll definitely see even bigger improvement. (subjects to improve on: anatomy, perspectives and colour theory...same old basics.)

best day of 2009? 19 July 09.
the day i've come up with a main story that is suitable for 蝶语! (my beloved personal project)
almost everything that popped out in this world are by chance, i don't anticipate or design them out. the ideas/stories just 'auto-play' in my mind. totally natural..but happens very slowly. With this general story ready, i'm more confident and sure of how i should design my characters and the world accordingly to further realise this concept. bravo bravo!

another important date: 21 may 09.
The day my original character was created. Ray Ray! sadly, i can't commit myself to draw a series for him. He'll most likely appear in my illustration works ba :)
Will still find opportunities to make a Ray Ray Children book though.

And in 2009, I've lost my secondary school friend who died upon a bike accident. Life is this fragile. This is the worst reminder anyone would want. I couldn't attend his wake because I have weekend outfield training. Definitely my biggest loss this year.
Paul, i'll remember you as a great friend and a great basketball teammate!

My biggest self-discovery, I-Ching. I also came out with my own way to analyse people, something related to Yin and Yang through numbers. Not super accurate but proofed to be useful for me, haha!

my biggest battle? myself. I've been fighting against myself throughout this year. Sometimes I can't win myself. It's one of the worst feelings ever. I've endured it, and i think i'm going to reach the balance point in my life soon. (becos i'm going to ORD soon? haha!)

biggest lesson? to realise that i'm still not mature enough. Not yet a man. Far from a man. lol!

10 more days to a new year. and i'm pretty sure that the year 2010 is an important year to my Role-Playing-Game, known as WOW. wait a minute, i'm not referring to World of Warcraft. i'm toking about the Role Playing Game that everyone alive is involved in. This game is World of Wonders....WOW.

to make it less confusing, we can call it, wow-wow or even oh-wow. lol

while many people are playing computer games such as World of Warcraft...i'm more interested in World of Wonders. while they are busy improving their character's skills and abilities, i'm busy improving my own skills and abilities. we have one common goal...to own other ppl in WOW. just that they wana own ppl in world of warcraft, i wana own ppl in world of wonders. NICE.

yes, i have a lot of bullshit to share.

nvm. i'm trying to send one message across actually. Guys who feels that there are no more challenging games left for you to play..well.... maybe you're right. cos u can complete all sorts of games...from level difficulty 'EASY' to level difficulty 'COME VISIT YA GRAVEYARD' or 'HELL'.
yes, u are good. but...but...why not try...World of Wonders? try level difficulty 'NORMAL'.

World of Wonders has approximately 6 billion plus active players, the game is functioning 24/7. u won't worry about not having enough side-quests or main quests in this world. the best part is, you've already signed up an account under your name since the day you are born....FOR FREEEEE! you are given literally nothing at first....and look what you've got now? you have a place to use internet!u've completed elementary school of earth, wind, water, fire...oops...should be elementary school of English, Maths, Science and Mother Tongue...bla bla. U have your own group of frens...see facebook to reassure yourself. and in World of Wonders... when you are bored... u can play World of Warcraft to be an orc or something. u can catch the recent epic show, Avatar.

World of Wonders has everything.

there are so many role to choose. so many guilds to join. so many levels to train. this world is totally real and interactive! theres no such thing as LAG. the game is running in real-time mode! (erm maybe thats why ppl don't like playing world of wonders, haha.)

ok ok. straight to the point. i hope ppl can treat this world as a Role Playing Game.

wana be a true winner? then try win the game of World of Wonders. well, i have been working hard to learn more about this game. early this year, i have advance to World of Wonders: The Adulthood Life. (stage 2) ...but currently still stuck in some military training place to upgrade my fighting capabilities...and soon, later next year....i gonna leave this place :(

basically stage 2 is about further improving my specialty, getting a job and forming my own family. i have to farm lots of money and experience points!!! and i aim to earn this particular prestigious artifact---The Golden Horse Award. HAHAHAHA!

my time here in Singapore is truly a fruitful and memorable one. if i'm living else where, i may not be who i am now. and i don't wish that to happen, cos i'm happy to be who i am now. but the again, i have to say goodbye soon.... it's not easy.... trust me.

i hope my understanding about World of Wonders is good enough, jus so that i have not made too many mistakes or wrong choices. This decision is a huge one. I hope it's the right move.

first of all, i need to apologise. i dun wish to do this, but i really need to (let it out).....slam this piece of storm shit. pardon my language(including grammar, haha) and my rudeness.

an angry movie review for Storm Warriors/ FengYun2.

the first movie really moved me. it's an epic tale that has done incredibly well for almost all categories (Direction, story, actions, visuals, acting etc.). I feel for all the characters! the first one is usually more interesting to tell...and definitely very tough to do as well (to adapt HK comic into movie and keeping the style)... u'll hav lots of things to juggle with, but that at least keep the movie filled with characters intro, establishment of a believable world, lots of actions and story telling...the audience has a lot to absorb and enjoy. unlike the second one...it contains air.

the big challenge for the first film is whether the audience who do not know anything abt the comic story will eventually understand this world and love it....as well as, pleasing/not offending the comic fans who know the story inside out...

1998, Andrew Lau directed , 风云之雄霸天下. He and the production team has done an impressive job. the edited story for the silver screen is pretty perfect...He made all the right moves...taking out unimportant characters, tightening the pace and maintaining the flow by chopping and stringing the events together... the adapted story is genius (sorry, i actually didn't read through the original comic yet...but i know there's alot of alterations made and since no one complained abt it, i assume tat the film adaption is good haha!)...but of cos, credits to 马荣成 Ma Wing Shing for his original comic story where everything start off from.

The casting of the actors! and this is where fate/destiny comes into the picture. Aaron as Cloud and Ekin as Wind! OMG, perfect match! LOL! but never forget abt 雄霸 (Conqueror) ! starring 千叶真一! he is another perfect choice!
if u get any other actors to act..i think the movie's impressiveness would dropped by alot!
and yea, 孔慈, 楚楚 and 文丑丑 all hav the somewhat right cast to act :)

next is the theme song! it has captured the soul of the comic! perfect theme song for me!!!
the song has stayed in my mind for 11 years till now. i love it. and there's another love song in the movie which is very nice too.

The story is somewhat deep (in a good way) when comes to the Mud Buddha's prediction, totally hilarious when comes to the jester, totally awesome when comes to all the fight scenes, super cool when the actors are posing like the comic characters and look exactly like them! really entertaining.

on a personal note, i had a france born chinese friend named Philip who actually lived with me for 3 weeks to learn abit abt Chinese painting from my mum. Philip's chinese Dad learns chinese painting from my dad. ya, tats abt that. so, on 1998 Philip got this golden opportunity to watch Storm Riders with my family in Singapore. He knows nothing about HK comic or anything abt martial art. in the end, he understood that world and loves it. i remember he likes them flying ard jus that. haha!

This is Hong Kong Cinema's future. this movie will pave a path for a series of Wuxia movies that only asians can do and excel. I can't imagine how much more wonderful things will happen 10 years from 1998...the visual effects r gonna be more realistic and fantastic, the stage will only be bigger and better...nothing is impossible.

11 years later, i encountered storm shit.

...and that shit storm is storm warriors.... the sequel of the storm riders!?
I mus have done something wrong, why is this happening? Few days after watching the show and still unable to get over it, i decided to go a little deeper to understand this storm shit...i went to youtube to search their making of...interview of the directors. and eventually going online to find the original comic to find out why/how such shit storm is created. i know almost nothing abt the story after the Conqueror is defeated and i need to understand the original for this one, becos the sequel has offered almost zero story telling to pull me back into the world of Wind and Cloud. what a shame.

i'm about the burst.

ok. the pang brothers (directors of Storm Warriors). screw u. i heard that one pays more attention to the story while the other pays more attention to the visual effects and art direction. screw both of u again. both of you have failed to deliver in both story and visuals..... fail. ...epic shit ...this is it man.... both of you have brought so much joy to everyone who watched the first show, and then both of you screw it up 11 years later. screw both of u again.

somehow, this tragedy tallies with saying of 成也风云，败也风云。am i supposed to laugh or cry now?

lets talk abt the story. what the fuck is wrong here? the story is an empty shell. it goes right into the actions...where i dun know a bunch of characters. it started off with a lot of words that quickly sums up what happened after the first movie and what's going to happen in this movie. basically, i'm shocked that they decided to throw in so many words b4 anything happened and thus i can't absorb a single shit that the narrator has to say. (i exaggerated abit i noe) nvm, i'm gonna slowly pick up later..... sorry...let the fight begins! and then prepare for another fight. then fight to fight and fight again. there is NO character development for most of the characters! Wind and Cloud became so one-dimensional here. Predictable, boring and emo. this is really really frustrating. don't u assume that we know who they are and then u jus let them to fight fight fight so casually. you have to design and put in time to show us what they are concern with...and not just about leveling up and fight fight fight. what the fight u want? the dialogues have one million 风大哥 and 云大哥 being addressed. pretty annoying. i feel that they are trying to say out how intimate they are with each other rather then showing (the better way, but takes time). and yes, the 2 female actresses has almost zero chemistry with their 风大哥 and 云大哥.

luckily, master nameless and Godless's casting is almost spot on. that probably is the only nice thing i can get from the show. phew~

the actions? going to be the asian 300? well, if u focus on delivering a good Storm Warriors in its own way. it will be 300 times better than 300. fuck your slow motion sequence. very untimely most of the time. i heard ppl laughed and then cut off their laughs immediately becos they know its meant to be serious here. but they can't help it as the facial expressions are so ugly fugly to see in slow mo.... and then the pang bros purposely slow mo it...as if they want to magnified that flaw. the audience cut off their laughs becos they still want to respect the film. do u know how freaking sad that is? i guess neither of u pang brothers expect this. but this is the feedback.

blue screen. superb technology? well, all your fight scenes ended up having one facing another...nicely aligned...for the blue screen. so that ppl later on can have a easier time to add in the special effects. that means less wild camera movements...oh ya...i know u guys can do more if there's more money. but hey, the result is that i see nameless and Godless fought face to face without moving positions (1st scene). then i see Cloud fights nameless face to face without moving positions (on the incredibly narrow bridge which became a training grd as well wtf). then i see Wind and Cloud fighting face to face TWICE without much movement in positions. (on the wooden log and on the cliff) there is no.."all over the place, and fly to wherever u like" attitude that i find a standard wuxia show should have in this movie. they should fight all over the place like a real swordsman and not like digimons!!!! (horizontal screen and spam combos across..) instead they are stuck to some fixed locations so that ppl can insert digital backgrounds. nice. and the real backgrounds are also mainly man-made..which look freaking fake...remember the caves? oh yeah, there are many caves, rocky mountains and sand btw.
WHY? why so BORING? becos they are BOUNDED by the superb technology that they want to abuse on. thats why.

result? STORM SHIT. i'm fucking mad.

then, the theme song. shut your ears please thank you.

and ya..talk abt memorable slow mo that can match up with 300. in the first movie, the sword saint's arrival to Conqueror's hall, freezing everyone and slowly stepped on them to reach to Conqueror and stab straight into his chest....that slow motion sequence is a classic! no many can top that. sometimes we really don't know how good we are until someone tells us. in this case, the pang brothers self pwned themselves to the max. move on brothers, reach for new height.

the sequel should only be made when there's a solid story plot that will spur the heroes back into action. from this failure, i see that it is crucial to continue to put in effort in portraying all the characters diligently. and provide a proper set up for the problem. how Godless defy the Emperor of Japan and came to conquer the Mainland. what's the importance of dragon bones. need some flashbacks to tell the story? then do so! continue to pay attention to Wind and Cloud's love life and their future/goals. Its not the fight that concerns us the most. i can accept 90% set up with 10% epic fight that will make me feel for it. Its hard to accept 90% nonsense fight with 10% story telling. i believe that the Pang brothers thought that they've smartly cut off the setting up of the story just enuff for us to understand the surface of it and went for actions. so smart...really efficient there. but for this upset, i think Storm Warriors should INCLUDE the rise of Godless, the reunion of Wind and Cloud, the terror Godless has cast upon the ppl on Mainland (the real threat) and then go to somewhere near to the actual movie. then short cut the stupid time used for levelling up...bla bla bla...epic battle against Godless, then final showdown between Wind and Cloud. that would make abit more sense and abit more story and character development.

maybe its the budget. how much more time is left for Aaron and Ekin to stay youthful? this movie is indeed a fatal mistake that i must never link to the first movie.

sigh, i'm really sad. something i really cherished has become so unacceptable.

maybe its fate.

and now I pray that 11 plus years later, Starcraft 2 is another great RTS game. please dun spoil this one..

hello!! i'm super proud of myself. able to take part and finished ATEC. the consecutive days of outfield missions are not easy...but not impossible to do. it's tough, and it's jus tough enough to not 'kill' me yet. its jus tough enough to make me a stronger and better person. its jus tough enough to make me feel homesick and wana cherish my freedom more. this exercise is the highlight of my tankee career and i think i've done well :)

i needa mention abt the night sky during my outfield...FULL OF STARS. i've made a wish upon a shooting star. then after staring at the sky for another few more minutes... i saw another one. then i realise the shooting stars there are "free". hence i jus lay my back on the tank's turret and enjoy the very cooling weather at night. afternoon time can be crazy hot. but u won't perspire much. i have lots to share..but lazy to type them down here haha

the R&R programmes are kinda plain as rockhampton is a pretty normal suburban town.
still i've really enjoyed myself throughout this trip. i watched Mary and Max and Overheard on the SIA plane...great shows. and i watched 2012 at rockhampton...i wish to slap the director's face..nuff said.

can't wait for Avatar. pray that it will be one of my fav sci-fi show.

the feeling of needing to draw and to express is growing. shiok!

xelex is gonna share today.

the word 'drawing' in my context here would refer to creating images bla bla bla...
well, i have a different take on this word now... draw means extract. yea, i simply use its another meaning... but it really help change my approach to drawing.

say, the artist is drawing the garden.
hence, the artist is 'extracting' the garden. i replaced the word to 'extract' so as to let u see how i see this word now...instead of focusing on the artist's illustration piece (the final drawing).... i'm putting attention to the process that comes before the act of drawing the art piece. it is the drawing/extraction of ideas and images from the given source.

we can't jus copy exactly from the source. if not, pls take a camera and take photos of your source. in art, i personally feel that the artist should (naturally) input his or her own take or expression to the subject. Draw/Extract what has make an impact on u, u may expand that feeling throughout the piece or anything else until you've achieve what u intended to put into the work.
(will explain more about the input part later)

what has contributed to such wonderful praise from the viewer?

3 sources. (hahaha, 3 is the magic number)

World. You. Medium.

The World is the inspirations outside of you. And You generates your own inspirations 'inside'.

here's the input part :)

so when you draw something, you are actually drawing/extracting 3 things.

You are drawing the INSPIRATIONS you've got from the world and you are also drawing your personal STYLE into the art piece. Last but not least, the FEEL of the medium is the 3rd thing you are drawing. Pen, pencil, marker, brush, watercolour paper, photocopy paper, oil paint, ink, watercolour...they all provide different feel to your work.

In other words, a finished piece came from the 3 sources that you've extracted and put into it.
The World, You and the Medium.

i would say that the artist has painted the garden so fantastically because he/she has managed to draw/extract the right amount/choice of 'material' from the 3 sources AND he/she has proficient skill and knowledge to express them to the art work.

alrite, i've covered the new interpretation of the word 'draw' in the context of drawing, and the 3 sources that we are drawing when we are drawing. lol!

btw, we are unconciously drawing from these 3 sources when we are drawing, but never much aware of it.
Now i'm gonna single out 1 of the 3 sources that makes the biggest difference in everyone's art.

the medium will not 'misbehave' ....when you are using a pencil, the pencil won't give u ink, but what it has.
the world is always as it is, there is no 300 versions of the earth, but there are countless different interpretations of the earth.
YOU are the only source in the 'holy 3 sources' of art that is a non-constant. everyone is different and unique. every YOU is different and unique.
My observation is that the world will not ruin your work. the medium shouldn't ruin your work (provided they function well)...it is YOU who couldn't deliver what you want. That's where skill and knowledge is so important.
but even when YOU have acquired the professional skills and knowledge to draw, your work can still fail to impress. why? maybe because you didn't draw/extract enough from the yourself Or perhaps, you didn't even draw/extract a single bit intothe work. You probably thought that things that you've created, as long as it is visually pleasing will be great. (not for me) yes, orange and blue looks nice together. so is red and green. it's better to have foreground, mid-ground, and back ground presented to make the composition more interesting and they provide a sense of depth. 3-point-lighting is a good way to light your subject....These are all skills and knowledge. But what you've failed to draw/extract to the drawing could be YOU. I'm refering to your personalities and interpretations. YOU are not enough in the drawing!!!!
yea, i believe that the value of a work lies in the 'YOU' factor.

let's say i'm right abt the 'YOU' factor...

hence, the secret to create art with life, style, personalities, unique interpretations is to IMPROVE YOURSELF! something that is actually very achievable. the more diverse you are, the more diverse your work can be. Constantly improving yourself would push your limits in art.

so if you are evil...you will be drawing/extracting evil stuff into the art. if you are lame, your art will be lame. if you have no personalities, you will be painting 'photographs'...totally no signs of YOU inside. If you are as fantastic as me or Hayao Miyazaki, you would be able to deliver fantastic stuff. what i'm lacking now is better skill and knowledge and a better ME!

In conclusion, 'YOU' plays the most important part in the Art of Drawing.
Be yourself, draw the right thing.

I had a great week as I was on leave. my mum came back on last sunday till friday. we went to Science Center's Body Worlds. It's a fantastic exhibition. It's not a scary thing, or make you wanna puke...in fact, i felt more alive after this exhibition. only $21 per ticket in exchange of this great experience! and i saw actress wong liling and her family. that's a plus!
i've learnt that, mammals on average have 1 billion heartbeats in a lifetime. a shrew lives less than 4 years at 500 heartbeats per minute. human have ard 70 heartbeats per minute, elephant is ard 30 and can live up to 70 years old. (it's related to their body mass). no wonder a shrew dies much earlier, becos it reaches 1 billion heartbeat much faster with its super fast heart beating pace!

anyway, i've tot of a romantic line base on this knowledge.

and i've watched Michael Jackson's 'This is it" show at grand cathay. Cinema 1, seat E19 is a great spot to watch the show. next time mus book ard that area to watch other shows. okay, this film is a informal documentary about MJ's last show. Freaking nice!!! he can still dance and sing very well at age 50. truly a legend. he is one of the few guys who's heart for the world is the greatest and we can all feel it. the concert is going to be superb, but its really really sad to see that he has left before he even performed once to the fans. while watching the film, the knowing that he has already passed away, breaks my heart. this film has the most applause and cheers that i've ever come across in the cinema. everytime MJ finished rehearsing one song, the fans in the cinema (mainly girls) would cheer "woow!" "yeah!" and applause loudly. i guess that really enhance the whole experience. "Love lives forever". Indeed.

and i've came up with a new story idea AGAIN. and the Day of Defeat Lan gaming session was mind blowing!

okay, this is probably my greatest work till date, LOL!!!

Presenting to everyone, let's welcome RAY RAY!!~~
He 'came out' from my heart. He may be me, haha!

(note: he is called Ray Ray. can't jus call him Ray. His chinese name is 雷雷. Pronounced as lei lei.)

Ray Ray is just as curious and playful as any other kid, but he especially loves mother nature (trees, flowers, hills, river etc) and his little red ball. His favourite tee-shirt has a big piece of green leaf printed on it. And his hair is definitely his trademark!

If i'm persistent and creative enough, i would create a series of Ray Ray Children Books.... Everyone will buy and read the books, and then i will mind control all the kids and become the first world-president...here i go again..haha!

this is my initial concept sketch of Ray Ray. His body proportions have yet to be finalised yet, so is the overall art style...I wish to make him more animatable...but i still prefer him to have a big head and short limbs...cuter that way.

Ray Ray's favourite tree. Here, I've drawn him in a more angular manner. The art style is less cartoony...more of my own elements inside. kinda like this approach :)

okay, i did go onto the internet and some bookstore to read up about I-Ching. its very impressive...but can be quite complex and hard to understand sometimes. will read more after my Australia training trip which starts from 08 Nov till i don't know when...lol. close to 4 weeks of military training there...wonderful...my ass...

so i decided to use my wacom tablet again...want to paint a tree...use a photo as reference...the composition is super boring again i know...spam lots of texture oso...but i had lots of fun painting this one. and i've learnt some new technics too. clap clap!

I want to blog abt this since last year haha!

yeah, they call Dec 21 2012 as Doomsday and there's a reason why...

hmm, i guess everyone probably knows what i'm talking abt. the maya calender's prediction on the end of the world, pole shift, mass destruction bla bla bla. (and a movie abt this day is oso coming up. may watch it for the visual effects only) anyway, i would like u all to go through this vid before i start to tok abt what i think abt the prediction ...and rmb to read the comments oso...kinda interesting :)

okay, i find that this is by far the most intriguing prophecy abt the end of the world that i've come across. probably becos the maya calendar is very accurate in its predictions...AND...the ancient chinese's I-Ching (pronounced as Eee-Jin) is another work from 'God' that i find its readings would be very reliable for i believe that the chinese and the mayans have discovered the secrets of everything in their own way!!!

i say that their works are works from 'God' becos i find it impossible to find out what-i-would-say a 'strict pattern' in the Way of Life. but yea, the chinese and the mayans did it. F#%@ing amazing!!!!!

(i noe there are probably others who have oso discover the order of the world...but i shall jus tok on these two for now.)

thats my informal intro abt Doomsday, focusing on the knowledge of the past/ancient.
actually, i'm more interested to know more abt these ancient works than knowing if Doomsday will kill us all or not. simply becos i don't think human will be extinct on that day. as long as some can continue to live on, i'm more than happy. and perhaps that day will be just like any other day rite?

Ever since i started to put all my heart and soul into Art... I began to discover that there is somewhat a pattern to many things that run this world. There is an ORDER to things. if we OBSERVE, SIMPLIFY them , CLASSIFY them and STUDY them...we will be able to find patterns, cycles and orders in them. we will be able to know what is going to happen next...for we already know how the pattern is going...and there, we are able to predict the future!

what i've discovered is nothing...compared to the work of I-Ching, a simple product that provides easy access to the greatest secrets of Life. by classifying and re-organising all the signs of Life into symbols. made into a table that would contain all the possibilities of life. it was built upon the very basic of life...the Ying and the Yang. I hav no say whether the table is perfect or not, but i find that it is perfect. at least, from the mathematical point of view.

i'll (briefly) study I-Ching one day. haha!

okay, sounds like i really believe that Doomsday will happen on December 21 2012...
hmmm, actually i don't know. i don't really give a damn. and i can't do much about it.
i couldn't be changing all my plans and just go enjoy my life by doing nothing but play rite?...then what if 'nothing' happens on that day?

Xelex( founder of Xelexology) 's verdict abt Doomsday is....

Still believe that Doomsday will fall on December 21 2012. And that I will most probably die on that day.
I will continue with what i'm doing as per normal but with a sense of urgency that i will die very soon. Therefore, i must live life to the fullest by trying to achieve my primary goals of my life before that day comes. so that if i really die on that day, i would have no regrets :)

Lastly, i would like to blog down this dream I had last year.
I was at my house and all of a sudden, everything is like heading towards the 'wrong' direction...i hav a very bad feeling abt what's going to happen. Dark clouds spread across the sky in a very short time...(just imagine the movie, The day after tomorrow)....and when i dashed to the balcony to check out what the hell is going on, i realised that the city is flooded by the sea already. there is no sign of hope at that time. i'm dumbfounded...i stood there helplessly... watching the sea level raising higher and higher...
BUT! beocs i live at the 33rd floor and it is high enough for me to escape this disaster! the sea couldn't devour my hse, haha! i'm safe. when i'm at home, i will be safe from this disaster. thats the msg i got from the dream. so i'm going to invite all my frens to my hse and have a crazy party on Dec 20 2012!! rmb to bring lots of food and swim wears just in case! we'll be the kings and the queens of the new world! alrite!!!!!!

haha, i'm so not taking this seriously.

whatever comes after Dec 21 2012 is a bonus.

some old pics. went to some toy convention thingy at art museum. as expected, the toys (on sales) didn't wow me on that day. however, something unexpected there, jus wowed me! those freaking cool toy guns (for trying)! i got to play in one of the mini-death match game. and as expected, i got zero kill and one death at the end of the game.

yeap, met zishen there. and gotta thank him for introducing this hobby to me.

i've been spending more time reading recently. little time for drawing. its fine, cos i noe i'm slowly progressing to the direction i want to go. and this (great feeling) helps me to overcome ALL SORTS OF BAD THINGS that happened in my camp. i'm super overworked, super shag, super pissed off, super sian....and time passed really really slowly for me. the next thing i noe is that my weekends are burnt like free. likely can claim day-off.

my knee is not healing. i fucking hate this injury. its one of the main reason for my unhappiness in camp. (bite lips)

i've found a wonder book recently. super happy.

this book really makes me feel that i can realise my dream.

i'm super motivated.

but i'm super occupied.

mum's back from HK todae. had a lunch with her, told her abt my "Butterfly Language" story idea. She loves it. Its the first time she praises me abt my own story. B4 this, she would jus nod her head, one ear in one ear out. haha

eh, previously i tot i'm going to study in HK city university's Creative Media. nope, not anymore. I would go for some other fine art course in some other Uni in HK. cos, i know what i want. Thanks to Digital Media Design :)

watched District 9 with sis. I think its the first time i watch a movie with my sis. we both enjoyed the show. worth the money, very entertaining.

watched UP alone, lol. first time watching alone. (all watched b4 except me)
like Wall E, the first part is very well done, then gradually becomes any other typical show that is ends with lots of actions. to me, both Wall E and UP's first act and their 3rd act has different direction, style and approach. basically, their 3rd act spoils the show. simply becos they thot that the audience would prefer to watch some actions in the films.

i say Ratatouille is the best Pixar show.

the next show i wana watch is Moon! can't wait!

hmm i hav no complains about my life for now...

no wait...

there's something i need to complain about...my right knee's ligament strain is BACK. it's not 'working' well again...i have to stop running after running just 1km or less. in the end, all my preparations for the 21km, Army Half Marathon (16/08/09)has gone to waste as i could not take part...but i was there! looking after the participants' bags. nice...

the strain has been around for more than a month already. maybe i didn't stretch properly bah...cos i can never touch my toes when doing leg-stretching exercise...Sit and Reach failure I am. haiz...inflexible piece of shit.

nvm, other than this...life is pretty good now.

however, i noe...i noe...i noe...whenever i've settled with some conclusions abt my (on-going)life, the next moment something will change the course of things and u will have to adjust to it.

u cannot complain...

the cycle of peace and chaos will take their turns to 'play' with your life. i say, learn to enjoy sufferings.

i'm already anticipating my chaos to come.

pessimistic? nope, i think i'm starting to understand this game.

and i'm starting to like it.

here's another art related update i guess. strangely, when i tot i've run out of gas to churn art for my art blog and decided to 'freeze' it for a while...i began to draw a lot more frequently...quite happy abt this.

i dunno how it happened that we began to draw on our hands with my black pen. when i draw on their hands...i felt like a tatoo artist!!! fun!

took up the challenge..and is quite satisfied with the result!

but kinda cool ya!

luckily its getting late, or else i would draw on adrian's entire body!!
aniwae, after pen-tatooing on each of our hand, i realised that issit true that Adrian was once a Half Angel...Kamelie, once an ancient beauty and i'm once a freaking old tree!!!!

the army life is pretty tiring for me. i didn't doodle in the bunk recently...sigh.

yea, lixiong got me to come up with this term as we chat abt how we are struggling to improve ourselves when army life is taking away so much time and energy from us.
our common goal now is getting the basics RIGHT first.
I would say those copyworks, life drawings, bk reading, learn software...all fall under S&K. not artistic creation yet...(dunno how to explain clearly here.)

the eventual goal is to have the capability to create personal content. i seriously can't proceed to draw what i want to draw now...haiz.

need more practise. practise for what? for better skills and knowledge :)

i'm feeling alive. very alive.

recovered from the flu. easy come easy go. nice.

i mus announce that i've come up with a story for 蝶语 !!!!
(direct translation, Butterfly Language.)

(sorry, no time to explain abt the entire concept here, i'm jus going to type down the progress i've made. )

all along i'm pretty clear abt the mood, the emotions, the pace, the artistic direction for this world that i've created. the butterflies that brought two people together. but wat's next? well, i couldn't continue it somehow....since 2007. i've been thinking, dreaming and even being haunted by this idea of mine for a long long time.

and today, all the' loose wires' in my brain began to reconnect again...not by coincidence, its only after i watch this movie (online) by the famous director, Wong Kar Wai, who directed '2046' and 'In the mood for love' etc. this movie has many similar aspects with what i want to tell in my story as well as how i want to tell it. (of cos, there should not be anything too similar with my story and his film. i'm not copying...haha)
anyway, its only after watching this film that i got the 'wires' reconnected, and then poof! the 蝶语 story jus came out of my mind as i'm showering lol!

you can watch to trailer...highly recommended martial art film. a lot of great actors in it! my fav hk actor, Leslie Cheung is the main actor!
the story stresses alot on emotions and love actually...and i guess it's this presentation that has enlightened me to come up with my own content. here, i want to thank this film for aiding me with my story prob..haha! and i really like this film.

i will carry on from where i've left off, and finish this story/concept/world...
for my personal joy...dedicated to me, myself and i...haha!

yes, today is definitely the best day of 2009.

i can see so many so many things that i have to do and still haven't do in the future.
i'm not worried abt it, jus feeling impatient and frustrated that i cannot start working on this right away. the whole film is running in my mind...driving me crazy.

before this, i tot i can only settle the story after i've gained alot of precious life experience. probably when i'm 40 years old. hahaaha...ahahahaha!!!! i'm overjoyed...

erm maybe my flu ain't over yet. oh shit...

ok. something else. i've failed to mention abt Michael Jackson upon his shocking death news. He is now the GOD OF POP. i will always remember him as the person when he is dancing and singing. He's a great dad too. i don't give a shit abt the bad things abt him...he is totally a different person when he's performing. and thats the Michael Jackson i love.
i wanted to draw something for him...but couldn't gather the strength or will to do it somehow.
hence, i'll just say...LOVE MJ forever.

this oso leads me to tok abt name. Michael. two of my idols named Michael. Michael Jordan and Michael jackson. they are both MJ. if possible, i'll definitely name my (future) son Michael and my (future) daughter Michelle :)

alrite, i hope i will slowly realise all these in the near future.

My Germany Trip!

Back from Germany! (for more than a week already, oops)
very sad to say that i'm now updating my blog monthly...not weekly!
anyway, its May now! and i'll ORD in a year time! bring it on...bring it on...

alrite, this post is about my Germany trip... i know, these photos make it seems like i'm on a holiday. NO! its formal army training with some free and easy time on the weekends...i can't share with u my training experience here, but yeah...enjoy this part of my fantastic Germany experience!

to have a better picture abt my trip, i've landed my foot on Hanover, Hamburg, Bremen, Heidelberg and Frankfurt!!!!!

b4 reaching the camp, our coach stopped over at Hanover for lunch. Pretty nice place...

Yeap, i got to know Germany better from this trip. I mus mention that i don't enjoy eating their food. its lot of ham, different type of bread to munch on, salty meat (most of the time)...and your usual potato, salad, vege etc. aya, i prefer chinese food lah!

but i love the cool weather there... i've went through so much training there, and i didn't perspire more than 10mins of training here in singapore. and night it will get really cold, i needa 'wrap' up myself to prevent from getting cold. i will not survive their winter...lol!

Previously, when i play Counter Strike, my nickname was ParisbOY...and i went to Paris.
then i went on to play another first person shooter game, Day of Defeat. i played on the Germany side 98% of the time. I'm a german dog! hahaha! and now, i went to Germany.
I wonder if i play for US, will i get to go US soon? WAHAHAHA! this is jus a lame connection between my game and my oversea trips....bleh~

Lastly, my mum came back from HK!i treated my mum to watch movie, GuGu the Cat. i like one of the lead actress there...haha! but my mum dozed of three times in the show...lol!!! She muz be damn tired... On mother's day, we had dinner at some food court. it was very rare for me to spend time with her like that nowadays....will cherish every second! Dad is very busy with his work in HK... could only contact him by calling him once a week. Glad that he's doing fine :)
i'll go back and learn chinese painting from u, shifu! (kidding...)

life is pretty good for me now. but i think i can manage my time better. if anyone knows that i have an art blog...it's like facing extinction now. i'm letting it die...super dissappointed with myself. i gotta fix this gotta fix this gotta fix this gotta fix this...can someone jus give me a nice punch on my face??? (i guess one million haters would volunteer in like 10mins...lol)
